Have you looked at Ecto and Obsidian Shard prices lately. They have made significant swings. Ecto went down and Shards went up.

I may have not got the full story as I have not really read anything officially, but I heard it has something to do with the increments of prices, but really don't understand. Did Anet tapper witht he economy again. Any folks with ectos just lost a lot of money. Any folks with Shards likely made some.

These deliberate changes to high end monitary items, ecto's are used as cash, is unfortunate and concerning. It is likely making some folks upset, but I did not see much on this forum.

PermaSin Farmers have been raping the Underworld - mindblades on the Chaos planes are easy for PermaSins and are known to drop a lot of ecto. Some people talking about 6 to 10 ecto in a single run.

I guess it is not so easy to do in FOW, or there is not a place with as reliable shard drops - so FOW is not seeing the pressure that UW is.

I am disappointed as I got a req 11 Eternal blade in UW that I sold for 210 Ectos - price of ecto dropping probably means that I shoulda kept the blade

shards are rare and echo is found any where (any where is high end game areas.)

FoW can't be solo'ed as easily, and the clears take longer.

UW can not only be cleared in half the time of FoW if it's a good group, but it can be solo'ed more easily.

More ecto (and cheaper for that matter) = more people crafting obsidian armor, bringing about the rise of prices of the 'crafting material' shards... Shards arnt used for trades thus people dont tend to hold onto them, nor are they farmed... as much

its cause ursan-way fow got less popular, and uw-ursan became popular which made 600/smite go uw only and same thing with soloers.

It's just a matter of time before somebody finds a way to solo for shards in hyperspeed. It's already possible, but not as easy as ecto, and ecto are still worth more.

i can get 5-10 shards in 1 run the only problem is that it takes 45 mins to do. You still make more money farming ectos even if you sell them to merchant

Ecto are still more than shards right now though.

- People realized ectos can be farmed easily.
- They stopped farming FoW; less shards on the market.
- They now can get FoW armor easily. But they need shards.
- Shards went up in price.

I think ecto's were around 5K for the past few months. Swinging up and down sometimes. I remember that I bought a few ecto's for my FoW in februari (this year) for 4.8K at the trader. Shards were around 1.8K at the time.

Offtopic: I've noticed Onyx Gemstones and Diamonds have gone up.

Ontopic: The amount of Obsidian Shards most likely went up in price thanks to them being low on the market. Ectoplasm, on the other hand, went down thanks to new ways to farm... at least that is what I assume.

Yea shards are more expensive, but this is not going to last, eventually everyone will get obsidian armor on their mains and this will all pan out as obsidian armor becomes far less "L33T". I don't plan on ecto dropping anymore, 1. because anyone who wants to have a perma SF sin bad enough would have made a sin already and started farming for hours (putting this around summer time were kids get off of school was NOT a good idea though) and 2. there would be nothing worth achieving(in the means of reasonable) and yet another load of people would stop playing..

PermaSin has made ecto farming, simply, too easy, and since traders go by the amount people sell to them, which is on the up, prices go down. More people farming ectos = less farming shards, often, so shards go up.

shards are more expensive bcuz they arent farmed as much as ecto. plenty of ppl farm the ecto for fow armor, then buy shards. more ecto now = more ppl getting armor = higher demand for shards = relatively low supply = price goes up

I am at the other end of the spectrum...I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg related to SF farmers. It wouldn't surprise me if ectos were actively being traded between players for less that 4K within a month. Even at that price, SF farmers are still making a killing.

Aye, I agree with you.
Yesterday people were buying ectos in TOA and Kama for 4.3,4.4k.
I don't doubt that ectos will be 4k within a couple of weeks.
